If James had not been murdered, then the church would not have prayed fervently for Peter to live. Not only did God welcome his child, James, into His eternal peace and presence at his death, but he also used James' death to sanctify the church.

In his request for the word of truth to persist in his mouth, David was in fact asking that his heart would be continually filled with faith.

But notice, the psalmist recognizes his station. He is God’s servant, his slave, subjected to the Lord and attending to the Lord’s will, rather than to his own. For, here we learn that many would wish to make the Lord their subject and require him to grant all that they have promised themselves in arrogant thoughtlessness.

I don’t think it is possible to have a genuine relationship with someone without eventually conversing about suffering and sharing the ways that you have suffered in this life. We all suffer.
